My fear is locked inside a box,
Chained in pine,
So I can ease my mind
And those around me
I'm fine.
But it's a lie,
The box is cracking,
Splinters peel,
And worries drip in salted tears
From holes the size of eyes.
They cast shallow shadows.
To fear fear is to fear nothing at all,
But I fear the box,
Fear it will set free my shattered dreams
And reveal the real me.
