Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ is a musical instrument in the western region of Nigeria, among the Yoruba people. It is surrounded with beads and played with both hands. This musical instrument is symbolic of unity and the power it possess.
The instrument cannot make real meaning until the agreement of the left and the right hands come to play. Also, the beauty of the sound produced by this symbolic tool of harmonious sound is only possible because all the beads are in unity towards one goal; that harmonious sound.
The hands playing the Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ appear twice in the piece to emphasize agreement because 2 is a number of agreement.
This masterpiece speaks of the undefeatable law of unity.
