The Kingfisher

This bird is one bird with beautiful colorful feather, best described in W.H Davies poem; "It was the Rainbow gave thee birth, And left thee all her lovely hues; And, as her mother's name was Tears, So runs it in my blood to choose." The kingfisher is called the halcyon bird, and the story behind it is quite interesting. The word halcyon was used to associate with the kingfisher in the legend. The legend narrates the story of "Alcyone, the daughter of the God of wind, and Ceyix, the son of the morning star.
