The Kota, live in the Eastern part of Gabon and slightly into the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Kota live in villages comprising of two or more clans. Clans in turn comprise several family groups who can trace their descent from a common lineage ancestor. This is an important point related to their art. Like any of the 3000 African tribes, the Kota revere the ancestors and their relics.
Their Mask
