Soul is made from elastic material and Cartoon physics rules allow it to deform well beyond a breaking point and to absorb all the hits. Devastating blows are preserved as comical deformations and imprints accumulate, allowing us to lead our lives in an illusion of reversibility and indestructibility... ... but there is a second rule of Cartoon physics – consequences are delayed, but they eventually catch up.
