What an incredible night!
It had been so long since getting a break in the weather to shoot some stars.
I had to be very precise with the timing on this image, sunset was at 5 pm, moonrise was just before 7 pm, I started shooting this at about 6.30 pm.
The ambient light from sunset and moonrise really gave this image some interesting colors and light, but it was just dark enough to get some starlight.
Jupiter shines brightly in the upper left corner. The moon is about to rise on the right of the horizon.
Shot at Lake Heron, New Zealand.
