Kasa Obake are umbrella monsters from Japanese folklore. They belong to a class of Yokai known as Tsukumogami - discarded household objects that gain a soul once they reach 100 years of age. Most Kasa Obake are simple pranksters who enjoy surprising humans by licking them with their enormous, oily tongues. However, some malevolent Kasa Obake are known to attack mortals by using a paralyzing gaze to freeze people’s bodies so they can be mauled by wild animals.
