In Harmony

'...at one, as one.' The word ‘harmony’ can be defined as a pleasing arrangement of parts; to be in agreement or accord; or internal calm or tranquility. I feel this piece speaks to all of those definitions. When I first drew this woman she felt vulnerable alone, so I added water and koi fish as a tranquil shield to protect her. After finishing and naming the piece, I looked into the significance of nine koi. I discovered that nine koi is the ultimate Feng Shui, a practice which uses energy forces to harmonise individuals with their surrounding environment.
