Extreme close-up image of a Blue Dragonfly. Dragonflies have two large compound eyes, each with thousands of lenses, and three eyes with simple lenses. Each retina contains several thousand photoreceptors that collect light and send information about the visual scene to interneurons, which further process the information. Macro photography is extreme close-up photography, usually of very small subjects and living organisms, in which the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than life size.
