It is located in the South Canterbury Region, in the middle of the South Island. Aoraki / Mount Cook is New Zealand's tallest mountain at 3,724m (or 12,218 ft). Aoraki (Ow-rak-ey) looks beautiful but is a very difficult and technical mountain to climb.
