Dr.Autonomaton was posing as a carnie before the toxic spill happened. In reality he was a robot trying to spy on the carnies. He was also a mutant robot who was crossed with a futuristic human being. Dr.Autonomaton wanted to take information from the past to create a new circus utopia with cyborgs and floating brains. This robot was seemingly harmless but when he revealed his true identity the carnies where suspicious of him.
