Lost to most of the world for centuries, our Messenger Malbec grapes are the last of their kind in the world.
Now grown in our Lost Vineyard, Messenger's Malbec grapes originated in Bordeaux, France, and after disease ravaged the old Malbec grapes there in the mid-1800s, the old Malbec variants were replaced with a new variant. Fortunately, these grapes had prior to that been transferred to Perth, Australia, before being moved onto the current vineyard in New Zealand. The Perth vineyard has since been lost to fire and development, and so the Old World Malbec grapes live on only in Messenger's tiny 3acre vineyard in Auckland, New Zealand.
