On the way back from Snæfellsnes to Reykjavik, on the last day of my trip in November 2013, I decided to make a side trip to Bruarfoss, for me personally one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland.
On site, I was greeted by an absolutely fantastic winter atmosphere with lots of snow, which made for a stark contrast between the black lava rock and Bruarfoss.
The river Brúara, fed by ice-cold springs, carries dissolved sediments in the water, which provides an intense turquoise color of the water within the fast flow channels around the Bruarfoss.
