Conway's Game of Life, also known as the Game of Life or simply Life, is a cellular automaton devised by the British mathematician John Horton Conway in 1970. It is the best-known example of a cellular automaton.

One interacts with the Game of Life by creating an initial configuration and observing how it evolves.

Period-48 glider gun is a true period compound glider gun based on the period-24 glider gun, using a Rich's p16 oscillator as a filter to remove half of the gliders from the stream.

In January 2019 a slightly smaller period-48 glider gun was constructed -- 51×35, 252 cells minimum -- based on the newly discovered period-24 dueling banjos oscillator.
