Wayang is a performing art played by a puppeteer and is usually accompanied by gamelan music and the melodious voice of a singer. The stories told in wayang plays usually revolve around stories of clowns like Petruk, Semar, Bagong, and Gareng.
Wayang has been recognized by UNESCO as a cultural heritage of the Indonesian nation in 2003 and has been widely known by the world community. Even now there are many foreigners who have participated in studying this art that comes from the land of Java, usually the Foreign Citizens (WNA) who are interested in this art will live in certain areas to study wayang art as students or directly to a famous and qualified puppeteer.
