As a landscape photographer, I keep a list of spots and the best times of the day and the year to photograph them. This was one of the last sunsets on this particular trip to Utah with a couple of friends. The day had been stormy and we went to each spot on the list checking how the weather conditions looked at each one. And thank goodness we decided to shoot at this spot in Canyonlands National Park because as soon as the sun came out from beneath the clouds, the scene was illuminated by some of the most brilliant and beautiful light I have ever experienced and this "Star of the Canyon" was born.
