Located in the Oceanus Procellarum (Ocean of Storms), Copernicus is one of the most prominent impact craters in the lunar surface and can be easily seen from Earth using binoculars. Named after Nicolas Copernicus, this 93 km wide crater is 3800 meters deep with three peaks in its center, reaching a height of 1200 meters. It's interior walls are terraced and it features one of the most visible ray sistems in the near side of the Moon. To the left of the frame (North of Copernicus) tare the Montes Carpatus which extend some 360 km.
