It is so popular, it inspired the "Jollof Wars" between the West African nations of Nigeria and Ghana, a social media rivalry where nationals of both countries claimed they had the best Jollof. Although Jollof Rice originated in Senegal, it has become the staple party food for other countries in Africa. A big pot of Jollof is an indication that a gathering is about to take place.
