Little Earthquakes

This was early in the season, and the ice was still transparent. As it thickens up, it becomes white, but if you go out early enough it is still possible to see through the ice to the dark water below. As well, during this time, you hear and feel the ice cracking and rumbling underneath you. It feels like little earthquakes, and is quite unsettling, as though the ice will suddenly open up beneath you.
