A moment shared with a majestic male waterbuck in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park. Despite this being one of my favorite wildlife photos to date, there isn’t an epic story behind it. I will say that this is the last shot that I took while in Uganda after 10 days of a whirlwind journey spent chasing gorillas, shoebill storks and tree-climbing lions. I was tired and was not really in the mood to take any more photos. In a way, it felt like the wildlife gods were offering me one final gift for the time, energy, and money that I had invested in the previous week’s pursuits.
