Gentoo Penguins are considered some of the most romantic species of penguins. As they generally mate for life, individual pebbles will be exchanged between the two birds as a sign that they are interested in breeding with each other. Once pebbles are accepted, both male and females build the rocky nest, and both take turns incubating the egg.
