Paraceratherium (‘near hornless beast’) was a genus of hornless rhinoceroses, one of the largest terrestrial mammals yet discovered. It was 5.25m (17.2 ft) tall at the shoulder with a neck up to 2.5m (8.2 ft) long! Because of the lack of skin impressions yet found, it is not known whether it had an armored hide like extant rhinoceroses. While juveniles were a target for predators, fully-grown Paraceratherium were too large to be hunted by most...except enormous crocodiles.
