Photography became a creative outlet for me that I never knew was available, the camera not only became therapy for me but also art that I can control based on moments I see through my lens. Threadbare has a lot of complicated and nuanced feelings for me. As a vet and someone who was deployed to Iraq my views and feelings on America and the meaning of the flag have shifted so much in the past decade. With the frayed edges and rain clouds above, this photo has helped me think on and digest those shifts.
