This image was created at the protests in Wilmington, NC after many southern states began putting forward legislation to ban abortions in the summer of 2019. I was struck by how many women in their late 70s and 80s showed up in 90+ degree heat to protest. These women have been fighting for our rights for almost 60+ years and it is a damning indictment that still have to take to the streets and demand equality. Dissent is a necessary element in our democracy and I often document protests of events that I am passionate about or that just piss me off.
