Ny Heim - New Home

Ny Heim means New Home in Norwegian dialect where I've spent almost 5 years. It is the first place where word like freedom, rights, freedom of speech and more made sense to me. It was the world I couldn't imagine existed. I was living my dream. Looking at these houses up on the hill, I remember walking down to bridge. It felt so unrealistic. Seeing that people own houses, just like in American movies. Seeing clean streets, no feral dogs, no crime, no oppression. It was a start of something new. Having light blonde hair, blue eyes and freckles - made me look like what the rest of the world thinks stereotypical Scandinavians are.
