Thank you Banksy!

The € 1 million Banksy painting (nicknamed "Banksy" by an anonymous graffiti artist and British painter) was torn to pieces after the auction. As soon as the hammer sounded at the Sotheby's auction and a Banksy painting worth "€ 1,180,000" was sold, the piece unexpectedly lowered itself through a shredder that had been built into the bottom of the frame unbeknownst to anyone involved in the sale. The bottom half of the painting was cut into strips in what Sotheby's has referred to as a moment of "instant art world history."
