The Bishop of Rome has the task of teaching revealed truth and showing it to men. It is an eminently positive mission, it is not limited to condemning doctrinal errors. The Pope carries out this teaching mission in three main ways, explained John Paul II: “First of all, with the word”; secondly, by means of his own writings or published with his authorization by the Roman Curia; third, through institutional initiatives to promote the study and dissemination of the faith, as is usually done through different pontifical councils.
