"Hierapolis"
During the reign of the city of Pergamon II. It is known that it was founded by Eumenes at the beginning of the 2nd century BC and named Hierapolis because of the Amazons queen Hiera, the wife of Telephos, the legendary founder of Pergamon. Hierapolis maintained its original texture by adhering to Hellenistic urbanization principles until the great earthquake in 60 AD during the reign of Roman Emperor Nero.
