The Defenders of Charleston Monument at White Point Garden in Charleston, SC was erected in 1932 with funding from the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Memorial Association of Charleston. Following the death of George Floyd, the statue has become a point of contention as protesters call for its removal. A protest occurring at The Battery in Charleston, South Carolina. One side was Black Lives Matter activists protesting the Confederate monuments within the park, this side were in support of monuments.
