Gentle Giant

Finding these amazing creatures in the ocean is a huge adrenaline rush. One you get more used to with each encounter but the addiction is real. I remember each time I have been able to find Whales with my drone and this time was as good as any other. A great morning with a good mate, we nearly gave up after waiting an hour and a half to spot any from a popular vantage point. As I was about to pack up I spotted a water spout spray about 2kms out to sea to the south. Luckily I hadn't burnt all of my batteries shooting the sunrise and was able to launch again. My mate and I both scored some amazing shots and video this day and it turned out there was a pod of six humpbacks all migrating north. ...View all
