A dream image that incorporates one of New Zealand’s most beautiful weeds and our beautiful night sky. Unfortunately, this image can only stay a dream as it just isn’t possibl. Lupin season is from September to February and the Galactic core of the Milky Way is visible from February to October so by the time the Milky Way would be this high and visible, the lupins are long departed for the season. At the start of Feburary, I did manage to shoot the Milky Way rising over the leftover lupins of the season, however it was around an hour before sunrise and blue hour was well set in, time wasn’t on my side before daylight hit, so making out any part of the Milky Way was difficult.
