Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary is rich in bio-diversity and is an integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The Sanctuary is committed to scientific conservation with consideration for the general lifestyle of the tribals and others who live in and around the forest region. The Sanctuary has a large population of pachyderms that roam freely on the preserve and has been declared a Project Elephant site. Various species of deer, monkey, and birds are found here and tiger sightings are occasionally known to happen.
