Recalled Red is a series of works shot on 120mm rolls of Cinestill 800T film. The rolls were recalled due to the chemical imbalance that gives these images their warm overcast. This series is very personal to me. The red, orange, and yellow tones of the works, instead of representing their usual feelings of warmth and friendliness, explore the colder sentiments of isolation, the nostalgia of so-dreamt “better days”, and ambivalence towards life in the present and future that I’ve often struggled with. I hope that viewing this series presents you with a moment of respite and eases the passing of time for you as shooting it did for me. 

Recalled Red

This is a particularly isolating image. Even with the yellow tint from the film it feels very cold to me. Cold and lonely. The world is empty, almost, and there's nowhere left to escape to. I shot this photo in particular during the calm between two windy snowstorms, a single moment of peace on a very cold and very windy day.
