Recalled Red is a series of works shot on 120mm rolls of Cinestill 800T film. The rolls were recalled due to the chemical imbalance that gives these images their warm overcast. This series is very personal to me. The red, orange, and yellow tones of the works, instead of representing their usual feelings of warmth and friendliness, explore the colder sentiments of isolation, the nostalgia of so-dreamt “better days”, and ambivalence towards life in the present and future that I’ve often struggled with. I hope that viewing this series presents you with a moment of respite and eases the passing of time for you as shooting it did for me. 

Recalled Red

I've often found myself driving aimlessly looking for things to shoot or just to get my thoughts together. I've found it meditative. Some of the most beautiful photos I've taken and things I've seen are because of these drives. I'd follow a little backroad through the woods that probably leads to nowhere and see something I've never seen before, a little piece of the world tucked away. Sometimes the world is shy and hides the brightest roads in the shade. It's up to you to explore them.
