John Dillinger (1903-1934 AD), also known as Public Enemy No. 1,
was an American gangster of the Great Depression. He led a group known as the "Dillinger Gang", which was accused of robbing 24 banks and four police stations. Dillinger was imprisoned several times but managed to escape twice. He is often referred to as one of most famous and notorious bank robbers in American history. Due to his famous robberies and getaways, Dillinger’s face was splashed across newspapers and newsreels as much as some Hollywood stars.
