My work is inspired by the ‘Super-realism’ of Hajime Soroyama, and his early forays into the worlds of futurism and robotics. However, in the post-“me too” world, I’m exploring new and inclusive ways to depict eroticism in art, in particular by mapping colours onto emotions, much as Alexander Scriabin did when he incorporated synesthesia into ‘Prometheus’ and other works.
There’s an inherent Element of depersonalisation in any representation of the female form in the guise of a realistic and futuristic robot. For me, that creates a stimulating tension between the subject of the portrait and the emotions which it provokes in the viewer.
