A hidden gem of the Southern hemisphere skies, the Lambda Centauri nebula is a massive region of ionized gas and dust that lies some 6500 light years away in the constelation of the Centaur.
Shot with my rooftop telescope, this image is the result of combining over 20 hours of exposures taken in the span of three nights.
Special narrowband filters were used which allow very specific wavelenghts of light emmited by the nebula to pass, blocking light pollution and enabling this kind of deep space photography from the highly polluted urban skies of Buenos Aires.
