A method of painting that combines many layers of varying mediums to create a luminous, jewel-like glow. Egg tempera, a medium beloved by the old masters, is often combined with oil paint, resin, and sometimes, India ink, slowly building in semi-transparent to semi-opaque applications. This is often done on top of an Imprimatura or Grisaille.
This piece was created by employing Imprimatura, the first piece in this collection, as the base layer for a kind of digital velatura.
