The High-Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) has a giant grid of tall ominous-looking antennae in Alaska that bred a range of conspiracy theories. Although the center has been decommissioned, for years conspiracy theorists were convinced of a hidden purpose far beyond studying the atmosphere. These theories ranged from run-of-the-mill weather control to creating floods and earthquakes, shooting down planes, mind control, and even causing chronic fatigue syndrome.
