Arrowtown is a charming and quirky gold rush village in Central Otago.
Arrowtown has a rich history. Before Europeans settlers came to New Zealand, Maori walked through the area on seasonal trips to hunt native birds, and find the prized pounamu (greenstone). In 1862 gold was found and thousands of miners flocked to Arrowtown to make their fortune.
This old historic building is an iconic landmark in Arrowtown. It was the Police Camp Cottage and is Arrowtown's oldest surviving timber building.
