Behind Galli, no more than 10 ft away was a panther, preparing to pounce. Its own eyes now locked on the strange man that approached it, seeming to be incapacitated by his gaze in the same way. Stalking past him the man clamped his hand around the creature’s neck unsheathing his strange moon crescent dagger. As soft as silk he slid it into the heart of the beast, but it made no wound and drew no blood. The panther’s eyes filled with the same eerie glow and it relaxed. Both were still for a moment until finally, he released his grasp. The creature shot into the night as silently as it had appeared.
“Now I see, as it sees” He whispered.
