Abrihm’s journey through the desert was arduous. Out here in the dry heat nothing lasted as long as he had expected. His water went the fastest and soon he had to ration what was left, he found himself jealous of his camel and its internal reserves. As he rode deeper into the desert the landscape almost seemed to shift, mirages sprung up around him with the frequency of a breeze. All over he saw flashes of impossible life. Jungles would appear on the horizon and vanish just as quickly, he often heard birds and running water, and for a moment he would swear he was moving through thick underbrush.
