This is the third of the "Temporary Happiness" miniature series. What began as a series of photographs taken in the back alley behind my first apartment in LA later evolved to this form on top of two skulls. The deer feel at once connected to each other but also isolated as how the skulls face away from each other.
I wanted to play with the opposing imagery of the idealized landscape inspired by my hometown juxtaposed in the new space I occupied. The deer and environments become islands in a foreign space that they must adapt to. I'm interested in playing with interlocking and overlapping opposites in my work. I believe we live largely in the overlaps and in-betweens of these extremes.
