I am not a prolific photographer of people and rarely do I approach anyone who I find interesting enough to want to photograph. However, it's hard to travel through India and not be drawn to the people in all walks of life. I happened across this fine gentleman one day, he looked so regal with his attire and impressive moustache and felt compelled to ask him if I could photograph him. He agreed instantly with a smile and demanded no payment, which is unusual in this part of the world. It takes two people to take a portrait and although I asked him to look into the camera, he instead looked down, which I think adds gravity to the final image. It's his photo as much as it is mine.
