There has never been a human invention more useful than the grid. Across a range of scales – from the microscopic to the planetary –the grid offers an abstract spatial system that can be projected onto even the most irregular surfaces. It organizes our cities, structures our mathematics, and facilitates our basic understanding of spatial dimensions. This piece is an homage to the grid. To the thickness of its lines and to the spaces in between them. To the relationships that emerge through adjacencies and across quadrants. In the short duration of human history, we have never made anything as perfect as the grid.
