Located in Hanle, at 4,500 meters above sea level, the Indian Astronomical Observatory is so remote that the nearest nearest city is Leh, eight hours away. The super dark skies and the crystal clear air devoid of any pollution capture the ethereal air-glow in the skies and the entire scene is a very unique, surreal experience. We occasionally spotted shooting stars across the zenith, and the entire night sky was dotted by stars of the Milky way, the word countless was re-defined in ways I can never explain!
