Tectonic Plates

Whenever I visit Death Valley I never sleep. The days are filled with perfect conditions and the night skies call to me. On this night, I ventured deep into the sand dunes looking for patches of cracked Earth to go with a booming Milky Way sky. I found this section of mud cracks among the rolling hills of sand. After the shot, I sat for a long time just looking. There's nothing quite like gazing into our own galaxy in the silence of the night. Location: California United States Size: 4000x6000
