I looked into the disappearance of Everett Ruess, a penniless romantic on a metaphysical quest in search of the unknown. He went missing in 1934 heading into Davis Gulch, Escalante. How does one search for the unknown when you do not know at all what it is?
I attempt to re-present the emotions that he felt through his letters that were left behind. By embodying the character, I retraced his steps in search of symbolisms in the landscape, rejuvenating his experiences of his journey and reality.
