Inspired by present-day parents wishing to protect their children’s privacy online, I began to wonder what family portraits would look like if past generations had also safe-guarded the identities of their offspring. Intentionally comedic, the familiar image of family has been coupled with modern day emojis painted in the style of the times, resulting in an image that seems historical while simultaneously contemporary.
