I've tried so many times to get the confidence to try on wigs in hair shops. Each time I do I feel as though the mannequin heads are laughing at me. As though they are saying "These Wigs were not made for people like you". It got me thinking of what a trans friendly black owned wig shop would look like. How it would hold me when I entered. How I would be looked at. How it would stop me from staring at the ground instead of looking at the products. So this work "THE TRANS HAIR SHOP" is supposed to hold that reality for me.
